Job Overview:

The challenging work in this area will involve Marine Periodical (Hull, Machinery and Statutory) surveys, marine components and new building as well as auditing of safety, security and environmental systems.  Present new construction contracts comprise a “Sub sea Inspection, Maintenance & Repair vessel” and four Mega Yachts utilizing combinations of Steel, Aluminium and FRP construction, though there are perspectives for more new building activity in Gulf region.  The work; classification and statutory surveys as well as auditing of the management systems will involve some surveys at sea, particularly during the summer passenger ship season. Due to the size of the area, extended travel and driving may be required. Job Responsibilities:

•To effectively manage resources to provide a competitive commercial service to external clients.
•To ensure all deliverables produced by the office meet internal and external requirements, including commercial, budgetary, costing and contractual requirements.
•To perform complex assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed broad parameters.
•To produce the deliverable within the agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility to review other employee’s work as appropriate.
•Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
•To assess/ recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an internal/external client within an agreed fee/cost structure.
•To discuss/ present the deliverable with the external client up to senior level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
•To make recommendations based on internal/external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business.
•To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
•Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
•To mentor/coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application. Job Requirements:

•A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science or qualification from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer
•At least 3 to 5  years demonstrated experience.
•Membership of an appropriate professional institution
•New construction quote experience preferred
•Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineer status.
•To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the IACS code of ethics
•To use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology
•To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems
•To provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned
•Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.
