An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Naval Architect to join a major industrial defence partner to the Royal Navy.

The JobBased in the Bristol area, the Senior Naval Architect will be responsible for the leadership, management and conduct of a wide range of technical tasks in support of the UK's fleet of submarines, working within in a small dedicated team of Naval Architects and Structural Engineers.
Your activities will be focused on:
• Structural analysis;
• Hydrostatics;
• Hydrodynamics; and
• Signatures control
Tasks will be carried out in support of the full range of current RN submarines, including the ASTUTE class.
Experienced in the conduct of analysis, both from first principles and through the use of advanced FEA and CFD, to conduct design and assessment studies, you will ideally have a good knowledge of ANSYS.
Experience of submarine engineering is also preferred, to enable a fully rounded approach to the development of engineering solutions.
You will be capable of developing technical solutions, managing sub-contractors and will have the ability to manage programme, technical and safety risks. With a demonstrable ability to deliver to time, quality and budget, you will be comfortable working flexibly and under minimal day-to-day supervision. As you will be required to deal with MoD clients and sub-contractor representatives you will be able to communicate effectively at a variety of levels.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree qualified, in an appropriate discipline, and registered as a Chartered Engineer, you may well have a postgraduate qualification. Knowledge of MoD working practices, the production of technical reports, familiarity with submarine design and construction are essential and an understanding of the operational aspects of submarine support would be of benefit.

Although based in Bristol frequent travel within the UK will be required.
