As Principal Technical Safety Engineer your main responsibilities will include
Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required
Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule
Keep up-to-date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope
Review and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel as required
Ensure that estimates and schedules are carried out in a consistent and realistic manner.
Maintain good communication with the Client.
Encourage and provide lateral learning within the Project.
Undertake discipline engineering activities as required under company procedures (e.g. safety screening, initiation of risk reduction measures to demonstrate ALARP, produce required safety engineering studies, review multi-discipline documents to ensure ALARP designs are adopted, conduct risk assessments and reviews)
Perform safety screening
Initiate measures to reduce the risks associated with the design to ALARP.
Produce various safety engineering (and legislative compliance) studies as required for delivery
Review multi-discipline documents to ensure ALARP designs proposals have been adopted.
Conduct risk assessments and risk reviews in accordance with existing procedures.
As required, represent the safety team at kick-off meetings, progress and design review meetings
Planning, preparing and chairing (where applicable) HAZIDs, HAZOPs and IPF/SIL
Education & Qualifications:
Degree qualified engineer
Chartered engineer
Direct Safety Engineering experience with a second degree (MSc) in safety related subject.
Experience:
Experience in Brownfield oil and gas engineering preferred
Fully conversant with UK regulatory environment, standard offshore international and national industry standards and specifications.
Management of change experience/skills
