An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Whole Boat & Technical Document Update Engineer to join a major industrial support partner of the Royal Navy.

The JobThe Submarine Support Management Group (SSMG) Design Services Group (DSG) provides multi-disciplinary professional and technical support to the MoD submarine platform Design Authorities (DA) for all in-service Royal Navy submarines.
Based in Keynsham, Bristol, the Whole Boat and Technical Document Update (WBTDU) Engineer reports directly to the Whole Boat and Technical Document Update Team Leader, who is responsible for the management and conduct of a range of technical tasks associated with platform wide design, safety, process and documentation issues on RN submarines.
The WBTDU Engineer provides engineering support to all submarine Design Authorities, mainly through the review and update of submarine technical documentation, principally accomplished through management of sub-contractors undertaking these tasks. Other responsibilities of the WBTDU team include creation of the submarine platform programme management plan and selected safety certificates.
Update of technical documentation has been identified as a key aspect of the SSMG contract and the post offers the opportunity to utilise project management skills working on technical tasks within a multi-disciplined department.
Qualifications & Requirements
Ideally educated to HNC level or suitable submarine support experience.
Candidates will also have:
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to liaise with customers and sub-contractors.
• IT literacy, including MS applications Word, Excel and Outlook.
The post holder will preferably have:
• Understanding of submarine equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of RN technical documentation.
• Project/Sub-contractor management experience.
• Understanding of MOD working practices.
• Knowledge of MS Project and Adobe.
