To effectively manage the operations for the Programme Management Office (PMO) within Marine Product Development (MPD) to meet the department’s specific commercial/ business objectives and therby help to develop the business to improve Lloyd’s Register’s competitive position.
Job Responsibilities:
Management of the Programme Management Office team (currently 4 PMO Officers)
Responsible for supporting the Manager Marine Programmes, Programme Managers and other business stakeholders with PMO related activities/data
Accountable and responsible for the overall management of all Programme support and reporting; including monthly Programme Boards, Quarterly Business Leaders, Portfolio business reporting and ad hoc requirements
Management, facilitation and coordination of the annual budget round for all Marine Programmes. Ongoing financial tracking of Programme spend vs. baseline.
Management and coordination of Load Capacity Planning and monthly management.
Responsible for setting, updating and managing all Programme Management processes and standards.on behalf of the Manager, Marine Programmes.
Owner and responsible for Project / Programme management tool (PowerSteering) and it’s maintenance.
Responsible for quality control and quality assurance across Programme activities including the quality of support provided by the Programme Support Officers.
Management of the PMO communications to Marine business, including producing quarterly newsletters.
Provide mentoring and training to PMO team and Programme/Project Managers where required.
Management of the PMO library and its associated standards /structure and the PMO relevant documentation e.g. standards, governance, budget
Job Requirements:
Good understanding of Financial Management and budget control.
Good understanding of Programme and Project Management processes, including Prince2 and MSP. Recognised qualification (desirable Prince2/MSP Foundation level qualified).
Significant team management experience.
High level of numeracy and good analytical skills.
A degree or equivalent or at least educated to A level standard or equivalent.
PC literate, specifically, proficiency in MS Office
Significant proven experience of working in project or programme support roles.
Good understanding of Enterprise management tools and systems.
Excellent time-management, organisational and interpersonal skills.
The ability to negotiate and influence with different levels of stakeholders to achieve defined goals
Good presentational skills especially to senior staff e.g. presenting Programme budget situation.
Ability to work meticulously both at the detailed level e.g. detailed project finance and the macro level e.g. tri annual budgeting.
Able to prioritise a busy work-schedule with a ‘can do’ attitude.
An understanding of the typical quality processes to be applied to deliverables at the Programme and Project level and the organisation of relevant quality reviews and maintenance of any quality statistics.
Ability to contribute to Project/Programme process development.
Ability to coach and mentor Programme Management Officers in terms of defined internal processes, best practices and personal development.
