Our client is an upstream oil producer operating in the North Sea. Established in 2005, they run large projects for major and independent energy companies worldwide
As Senior Geologist your main responsibilities will include
Plan and implement geological data gathering and evaluation
Participate in the development and execution of JV and in-house geological work programmes to assess opportunities to acquire new assets, and to assist in making fully informed field development decisions to achieve optimum company equity positions in existing assets
Assist in the planning and management of geological work programmes and studies to deliver subsurface models
Develop geological models for existing discoveries/potential developments and participate in development planning
Participate in technical peer reviews and other technical meetings
Collaborate with other team members to construct, update and maintain 2D and 3D geological models appropriate for incorporation into reservoir simulation models for use in evaluating new opportunities and existing discoveries/potential developments
Assist in the assessment, quantification and communication of geological risks and uncertainties to team members and management
Assist in the contracting and management of geological data acquisition and appropriate 3rd Party studies
Provide support to the General Manager Joint Ventures & New Business in JV decision-making, negotiations and meetings
Present to Management and JV Partners when appropriate
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum BSc in Geology with post-graduate Geological qualification preferred
Technical experience in the upstream oil business including some time spent within an Operator
North Sea oil & gas industry experience
Required Competencies:
Experience in working with PC-based 2D and 3D geological modelling packages
Superior technical skills in Petroleum Geology with a strong understanding of related subsurface disciplines and technologies
Ability to deliver detailed original technical results whilst contributing to overall project objectives
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary technical team to achieve common goals
Good business awareness and planning skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively represent the Company
