Our client is an upstream oil producer operating in the North Sea. Established in 2005, they run large projects for major and independent energy companies worldwide
As Principal Reservoir Engineer your main responsibilities will include
Use simulation models, analytical tools and a detailed understanding of well and reservoir performance to produce forecasts of production profiles and reserves and to quantify the uncertainty in each
Work together with other members of the team to identify optimum appraisal plans and select appraisal well locations, objectives and data gathering needs
Identify, evaluate and justify alternative development options
Ensure risks, uncertainties and upside potential are incorporated into the decision-making process
Develop and execute reservoir engineering scope of work and workplan to firm up development plan leading to development drilling and thereafter
Develop reservoir engineering element of potential farm-out package and actively participate in the farm-out process
Ensure quality, integrity and consistency of reservoir engineering input to budget, economic models and the corporate plan
Provide input to the long term reservoir development and management strategy
Prepare independent yearly reserves estimates
Manage the corporate reserves certification process
Mentor/supervise more junior staff and transfer knowledge to the organisation as a whole
Integrate the overall subsurface information with that from drilling, facilities and operations to identify the optimum development plans and ensure production forecasts take proper account of all the key factors including capital and operating cost bases
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant degree or equivalent; petroleum engineering or similar- preferred
Proven work experience in relevant discipline, including experience with another operator. UK North Sea experience is preferred
Good overall understanding of petroleum geology, geophysics, petrophysics, well planning, drilling and production operations
Ability to identify critical issues and maintain a detailed grasp of technical issues while working towards the wider strategic / commercial objectives
Sound knowledge of reservoir simulation modelling and when appropriate to use. In-depth knowledge of a wide range of analytical reservoir engineering techniques including material balance, decline curve analysis, displacement calculations and well test analysis
Experience of hydraulic fracture stimulation techniques is desirable
Experience in planning and economic evaluation and production forecasting
