The Compliance and Engineering Services Department (CESD) provides certification, classification and verification services to the oil and gas industry. These services provide evidence of conformity with: regulatory requirements (certification); Lloyd’s Register’s Rules (classification); and duty holder’s schemes (verification). The process includes design appraisal, survey at manufacturers’ sites and commissioning. We require a Team Lead to provide day to day management to deliver an effective commercial service, assessing complex problems for external clients where parameters are not well defined and finding solutions where previous experience does not provide any precedent.
There may be a requirement to travel offshore and overseas, sometimes at short notice. Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Compliance Operations Manager, the role will involve:

•Providing proactive leadership and mentoring to surveyors with CESD Operations Group
•Contributing to the management of the CESD Operations Group
•Providing technical assistance/advice, as requested, to Energy surveyors in other operating regions.

•Surveying Safety Critical systems on fixed and floating offshore installations
•Surveying equipment manufacturers works for both verification and certification requirements
•Conducting audits of Duty Holder’s assurance process to ensure that Safety Critical systems are being adequately maintained.
•Control of ‘management of change’ processes for a variety of clients.
•Understanding and interpreting UK offshore legislation
•Understanding the basic principles of risk management and interpreting an offshore installation safety case
•Preparing performance standards and written schemes of examination
•Providing good control of assigned work, including communicating with clients, financial control and timely and accurate reporting Job Requirements:

- Degree qualified engineer.
- Experience of class, statutory and industrial surveys with a working knowledge of International Codes and Standards applicable to the Engergy Business Stream.
- A proven track record of relevant experience.
- Strategic Thinking; Recognises how own work contributes to their team.
- Change Management Skills; Understands the need for change and is able to adapt own independent specialist role/team working processes in order to accommodate such change.
- Inspirational/ Motivational Skills; Demonstrates self-motivation to achieve own performance objectives.

Technically strong, with good communication skills and a willingness to find solutions, the role requires confidence in making decisions, sometimes under pressure, and an understanding of the commercial aspects of the work.
