As Senior Mechanical Engineer your main responsibilities will include
Gain knowledge/expertise in all aspects of specific types of equipment and associated technology used within the department.
Execute the delegated work within the defined schedule with limited supervision.
Prepare equipment requisitions, specifications, data sheets, drawings, calculations, technical recommendations, bid tabulations, data schedules, etc., as required, for approval by the Principal Mechanical Engineer.
Review vendor drawings and documentation, supervised by the Principal Mechanical Engineer.
Execute feasibility studies for equipment, for approval by the Principal Mechanical Engineer.
Prepare and/or update company standards, data sheets, drawings, etc., as directed.
Assist in the inspection of equipment when required.
Participate in external and in-house training.
Subject to availability, familiarise oneself with the programming and utilisation of PC's and engineering software.
Identify developments in equipment technologies pertinent to the company's business.
Recommend new techniques and methods of working for greater efficiency.
Implement company and departmental policies and procedures.
Recommend improvements to company operating procedures.
Ensure Health & Safety responsibilities are adhered to and understood
Understand obligations and ensure that all staff are aware of their obligations under the Health and Safety Act.
Ensure that all staff are working to the company procedures, specifications, standards and any project specific addenda.
Provide technical direction, Control and Engineering assistance to subordinates.
Act as training mentor for graduates
Competencies
Working knowledge of mechanical engineering subjects relative to engineering contracting, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
Qualification to BSc or B.Eng or M.Eng Mechanical Engineering standard is preferred
High Level of personal computer literacy
Team Leader with good communication skills
