The Job

Job Description

My client is currently engaged in a high value project to design and supply complex engineering solutions for ships and submarines. An experienced project manager is required in order to manage projects from concept phase to manufacture and installation.

Typical core duties will involve but will not be limited to:-

Preparation and update of the Project Plan and definition of project objectives.
Close liaison with Customer, Stakeholders and Suppliers.
Definition of the structure of the scope of work, with the associated budgets and organisation.
Sanction of all extra work or changes to the original scope of work.
Identification, monitoring, formulation of mitigation strategies and communication of the risks on the project to senior management.
Ensure that project activities are programmed and the required resources identified.
The programme to be reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
Co-ordinate resource requirements with functional managers to regularly review progress with the necessary persons in the company to achieve the project objectives.
Review of engineering design for minimum cost.

Responsibilities

Operationally responsible for the project assigned to them.
Responsible for the safe and successful delivery of programme milestones within cost budgets.
Functional responsibility for the supervision of assigned Project Engineers.
Responsible for developing and maintaining effective Project relationships both internally and with the client.

Qualifications & Requirements

The candidate will ideally have relevant experience in Project Management within an engineering design and equipment supply environment.
You should be capable of the management of a project across more than one discipline and have sufficient knowledge to understand the technical aspects of the work.
You will possess excellent communication skills, enabling effective liaison within the team, and be able to communicate effectively with all other areas of the business.
You will be commercially aware, possess good planning and organisational skills, and have a structured approach to your work.
The candidate will ideally:- Be APMP certified or with other relevant Project Management qualifications.
