Maersk Oil Kazakhstan GmbH
is looking for a Head of Well Services & Well Technology to lead our Well Services department in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The Head of Well Services will report to the Drilling & Well Services Manager. The Head of Well Services & Well Technology will take up a position within the head office for our Kazakhstan operations in Aktau. In close corporation with other departments, you will have a key role in taking our well operations to the next level of successfully running a safe and efficient land based well services operation in a challenging environment. Maersk Oil Kazakhstan is currently in a phase of executing an appraisal well programme (expected 4 wells) and at the same time preparing for the next stage of developing the Dunga Field (Phase II Field Development Plan) which will entail drilling of 198 vertical wells over a three-year period. This requires a significant step change for the organisation to manage and optimize tenders, standards, procedures and engineering tasks, whilst ensuring compliance with corporate policies . without losing sight of the end goal.

Role of
the Head of Well Services & Well Technology

·         Manage a group of approx. 15 people (field and office personnel).
  • In charge of programmes and supervision of work-over and completion operations.
  • Optimize well performance and uptime.
  • Maximize artificial lift while minimizing costs for flowing, ESP and beam-pumped wells.
  • Review completion designs and installation procedures with associated automation and make recommendations for further improvements.

Responsibilities of the
Head of Well Services & Well Technology

·         Lead a team of national and expatriate engineers and technicians to accomplish assigned goals in the Dunga field in a safe and efficient manner. Supervise office and field based engineers. ·         Recommend and implement training of field personnel in automation and well testing. ·         Ensure preparation of work-over and well completion programmes such that they meet performance, governmental and corporate standards for safe and efficient operation. Execute the programmes and ensure that field operations are performed in full compliance. ·         Develop appropriate standards and procedures for equipment and all work on wells. ·         Recommend corrosion and scale treatment programmes. ·         Prepare tender documents and follow through to issue of purchase orders. ·         Track and review work-over and completion costs and make specific recommendations to reduce costs without sacrificing safety or well performance. ·         Monitor warehouse inventory to ensure adequate supply including back-up supplies of tubular, tools, and other items related to completion and artificial lift equipment. ·         Prepare cost estimates and work-over recommendations as needed by other groups. ·         Track historical well performance to ensure that lessons learned are captured and implemented. ·         Monitor daily production and make specific recommendations to improve performance; e.g. pump speed changes, and control parameters to maximize recovery while minimizing equipment wear. ·         Coordinate and liaise with other departments on production and completion issues. ·         Coordinate service company support for artificial lift and work-over operations. ·         Participate in cross-asset initiatives to identify new technologies and enable the global team to benefit from experiences elsewhere.

Background

The Head of Well Services must have an Engineering degree or other higher technical educational background. A minimum of 5 - 10 years relevant experience in the oil industry including formal leadership experience is required and main part of this should be within Well Services. Fluency in both written and spoken English is required and knowledge of Russian would be an advantage. Personal skills include ability to interact with other disciplines, motivate people by delegation of tasks and excellent communication and collaboration skills in accordance with our corporate values and leadership priorities.
